Flesh Hides

Heart Beat Drum 017, originally uploaded by bruceinthewind.

Last weekend I had the experience of fleshing, cleaning and stretching a fresh cow hide with my friend Bruce. It's not an activity for the faint of heart. He is making a community drum and I plan to continue helping him.

Pretty cool, eh?

It looks like hard work...and smelly too!! But what a great feeling of achievement when the jobs complete.
Lucky you to be involved in this great project.

Fantastic! Looks both cool & pretty to me. I can't wait to see pictures of the finished drum.

I can tell you my friend it is well worth it.
I have one and the sound is OUT of this world.
I've had mine 8 years and it's still excellent.
